FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How wide of a slab can you flatten?

Slabathor is designed to flatten any sized slab.  Any width and any length.  The rail on rail setup allows you to slide one set of rails across another set, so as long as you pick a low-profile, but strong rail to run across, you can slide it across another set of rails.  You can check out a video of the rail-on-rail setup here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVSMz0ilV8k

2. How long of a slab can you flatten?

Again, Slabathor is designed to work on any length of slab.  Make sure to support your rails when you put them together, but you can make any length work.  If you have two rails that are butting up against each other to make a longer rail, make sure the transition between the two is smooth and the rails are straight.

3. What sets the depth of the cut?

The depth of cut is controlled by the router base that comes with your router.  Each pass, you'll want to inspect your slab for flatness, adjust your height, and start another pass.  If you are having trouble seeing which parts are getting cut, a quick scribble of chalk all over the slab can help you see if there are still high spots and low spots.

4. How do you program it?

Unlike a CNC router, there isn't any programming.  There is a simple app that controls speeds, feeds, and can be used to set positions.  But, if you don't want to use that, the buttons on the back are all you need for a day of building.

5. Which routers are compatible with it?

Slabathor is designed to work with most major brands.  If you want to double check your router, please feel free to reach out.

6. How long does it take to setup the rails?

The first time, you might find it takes longer, but once you know what your setup is, it really is a 5-10 minutes setup.  I often run on saw-horses, and even with setting those up first, I can get everything in place and running pretty quick.

7. I built an awesome table, do you wanna see it?

Yes please.  I'm pretty fond of sharing other people's projects and would love to be able to share yours too.

8. You didn't answer my question, how do I find out more
